Compliance Officer (Environmental and water permits)

The Compliance Officer (environmental and water permits) is a permanent position that can be filled for 32-40 hours per week, spread over 5 days. The location is Stein at our Integrated Wastewater Treatment Plant (IAZI) department. Working from home, for a limited number of hours per week and on a flexible basis, is possible.

Key responsibilities

Advisory and support role

You are able to advise and support both the customer and the wastewater plant. You do this based on substantive expertise about laws and regulations regarding (waste) water, the situational knowledge of the customer and of the wastewater treatment plant, so that Chemelot’s license to operate is maintained. As Compliance Officer you do this in an advisory role, a facilitator role and an analytical and/or inspection role.

Policy development and implementation

Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, the acquisition of necessary permits, and ensure compliance with applicable legislation and guidelines through your subject matter expertise.

Analytical expertise

This position requires specialized knowledge in the field of chemical analysis, including the development of analytical techniques in collaboration with external partners, reviewing analyses for reliability, and providing advice on failures or anomalies.

Strategic development

Assist in formulating policy and strategy related to (waste) water treatment.

Project leadership

Lead the environmental aspects of projects to ensure that all necessary permits and compliance requirements are met within designated timelines. You will also manage relationships with various stakeholders, including clients and government entities.

Qualifications

  • HBO or WO level of education, preferably in a chemical (analytical) discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in the for-profit sector.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills in both Dutch and English.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to foster and enhance relationships with external parties, including site users and drinking water companies.
  • A hands-on, independent, and proactive work approach.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and keep commitments.
  • Team-oriented with a strong focus on output and results, accompanied by a positive, can-do attitude.
