Continuous Improvement Manager

The Continuous Improvement Manager position at Infra Services aims to improve processes, systems and structures within the asset management chain to increase safety, efficiency, quality, sustainability, effectiveness and availability of assets. This position is strategically but also practically focused on identifying areas for improvement, developing solutions and implementing changes that contribute to organizational goals.

A Continuous Improvement Manager typically works on studies and improvement initiatives focused on safety, compliance, performance, efficiency, sustainability, quality and effectiveness and takes responsibility for implementing successful changes.

 

Key responsibilities

Security, risk and compliance management

  • Ensure that improvement initiatives comply with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Ensure that proposed improvements go through appropriate safety and risk studies and that safety is maintained at least at the same level.
  • Assess potential risks associated with proposed improvements.

Leadership and steering

  • Supervise, coach and develop team members through training and support.
  • Setting clear priorities and coordinating work between departments and external parties.

Analysis and diagnostics

  • Analyzing existing processes, systems and performance to detect inefficiencies and bottlenecks, all in accordance with IMS and the asset management process ISO 55000.
  • Collect and interpret data (or have it collected) to identify trends, causes of problems and opportunities for improvement.
  • Compare internal processes with industry standards or best practices to find areas for improvement.

Develop improvement initiatives and plans

  • Develop improvement initiatives that align with organizational goals and strategy. Self-rank the priorities of improvement initiatives in the risk matrix, and have them reviewed by the Innovation Manager and Infra Services Manager if necessary.
  • Responsible for preparing and managing long-term plans and budgets for improve/innovation projects (both OPEX and CAPEX part) for the department.
  • Redesign or optimize workflows and systems.
  • Prepare business cases, proposals and cost-benefit analyses to justify improvement projects.
  • Manage the improve annual plan within budget.
  • To (re)direct and communicate the expected realization of planned results in a timely manner, monitor and make decisions regarding the allocation of resources to stay within budget constraints, or adjust to achieve CAPEX realization as per plan.

Implementation of improvements

  • Lead or support projects focused on process and system improvement.
  • Collaborate with various departments to build support for improvements.
  • Manage Engineers and/or Project Managers who contribute to the improve projects and actions from annual plans and ensure they deliver on their commitments.
  • Assisting teams in implementing new practices, technologies or systems.

Continuous improvement

  • Implement work processes for collecting feedback on processes and systems into KPIs.
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the organization.
  • Improving measurability of performance through the number of processes successfully optimized on the 5 KPIs, security, compliance, availability, lowest cost and sustainability.
  • For example, by improving safety or environmental performance, shortening lead times, reducing waste, or increasing automation.
  • Drive quality improvement by measuring the impact of improvements on service or service quality of assets.

Monitoring and evaluation

  • Determine KPIs and other metrics to track improvement initiatives.
  • Report regularly on the progress, results, and impact of improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of changes and, if necessary, take additional measures.

Responsibility for innovation

  • Actively monitor technological and market developments relevant to the organization/department.
  • Implement solutions for data driven decision making (e.g. dashboards or AI tools), together with the Innovation Manager.

Internal and external cooperation

  • Function as a connecting link between various departments to improve collaboration and communication with the goal of effective results in the improve year plan.
  • Work with external partners, such as consultants or technology vendors, to support improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with industry peers or participate in working groups and seminars to share best practices, learn from others and share with your own organization.

Qualifications

  • You have HBO working and thinking level, towards Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Construction.
  • You have at least 3 years of experience in a similar position, preferably in an industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and skills.
  • You have knowledge and experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies, process improvement projects, quality management systems and safety and environmental regulations in the chemical industry.
  • You have experience with data analysis and performance monitoring.
  • You have communication skills and are naturally that “curious” colleague.
  • You have a good sense of common sense.
  • You are able to gain and maintain overview.
  • You are team-oriented, eager for output and results, and have a can-do attitude.
